[top] Storm in Heaven (SiH) a group of fans that have formed a scanlation (from scan and translation) group, which is a group that releases English translations of manga. We import manga (Japanese comics), scan them, translate them, and insert the English translations into the scans for distribution. We do not scanlate series licensed for distribution in English, since it would take away from sales that support the authors and companies. Our goal is to build fanbases for the titles we do in hopes that they will get licensed (which benefits the original Japanese author). If a title we're working on does get licensed, we drop it and cease distribution. We're a non-profit group of fans, and any money generated by the site through ads goes directly back into importing more manga. We do not claim any ownership of the manga we scanlate; they are the property of their creators. Any questions, comments, or feedback can be emailed to the group coordinator, Kalendel. Can I host, upload, or redistribute your releases? [top] No. We do not allow our releases to be hosted anywhere but this website. To be clear, any site hosting our releases for downloading or online reading (yes, even popular sites like Manga Fox) are doing so against our wishes. Please do not upload our releases to any of these sites. We have multiple reasons for this. All our releases can be downloaded directly from this site, and all non-explicit titles can be read online here, so there is no need for outside hosting. If you wish to spread the word about our releases, please link to our site, or even that manga's project page. Can I translate one of your projects for distribution in another language? [top] Please head over to our foreign translation page for information. There is a form you need to fill out. How do I download your releases? [top] All our projects may be downloaded from their respective project pages (which are accessed by clicking on one of our three main genres, shoujo, shounen, or shounen-ai). Non-explicit titles are also available for direct online reading (through the [ro] links on each project page). Titles that we have dropped (for any reason except licensing) can still be downloaded. Licensed titles cannot be downloaded or read online. We do not endorse the scanlation of licensed manga, and ask that all our releases that become licensed stop being distributed. There are links on the project pages of licensed titles detailing which company licensed it and where you can buy a print copy of it. What's shoujo, shounen, and shounen-ai, and what other genres do you break projects into? [top] Shoujo, shounen, and shounen-ai are the three main genres of manga we scanlate. Shoujo is geared for girls, while shounen titles are geared toward men. Shounen-ai (also called boy's love or BL) titles are stories with romances between two men. Projects in each main genre are given sub-genres. Below is a complete listing of the sub-genres we use and our definitions. Click on any of them for a full listing of our projects of that type. Action: this includes "adventure" manga. Comedy: manga primarily meant to be funny and light-hearted. Cute: manga containing mostly cute/fluffy situations and characters; light-hearted. Drama: titles with an emphasis on relationships and life events. Fantasy: stories taking place in a swords and sorcery setting. Josei: manga intended for mature audiences (due to theme or graphic violence); targeted at females. Romance: manga with an emphasis on romantic relationships. Sci-fi: titles with science fiction elements or that take place in the future. Seinen: manga intended for mature audiences (due to theme or graphic violence); targeted at males. Short-story: denotes a manga that consists of 2 or more unrelated short stories. Shoujo-ai: manga containing romantic relationships between two female characters. Slashy: manga with strong bonds between male characters; not shounen-ai, but fangirls can imagine it! Slice-of-life: stories focusing on the everyday lives of the characters. Supernatural: stories with supernatural elements that don't fall into the "fantasy" category. Yaoi: manga containing sexually explicit male romances; not for minors. How can I join Storm in Heaven? [top] We're usually on the look-out for new staff. Please head over to our recruitment page for a description of scanlation positions and how to apply for each. We aren't always in need for each position; when we're recruiting, a notice will be posted in the updates section. Do you take donations? [top] We don't accept straight donations, unless you're donating it flagged for the purchase of a specific manga series (in essence, you purchasing that series for us). We will also accept donations of manga themselves (either that you've owned, or purchased and shipped to one of our scanners). Note that we won't just do any series, so if you want to buy a series for us, we have to make sure we'd like it first. Feel free to email us if you want to donate manga. Are you going to do this project that the Italian SiH is doing? [top] The Italian and English sides are completely separate, do different types of manga, and are run by different people. While we do many of the same projects, we don't have any plans to match up. To see what projects we're planning on doing, please view our future projects. Pretty layout! Where's the picture from? [top] The current layout was tossed together by Kalendel, and features an image from Yamashita Tomoko's "Bara no Hitomi wa Bakudan". We plan on scanlating every single title by that mangaka (that isn't already being done or licensed). They will appear on the future projects list as we're closer to getting around to them. When is the next release of my favorite manga going to be? [top] Check the project page. On it, you'll see if the next chapter is in scanning, translating, editing, or QC. If the next chapter isn't listed, it hasn't been scanned yet. We can't give a concrete timeline beyond that, so you'll just have to be patient. Unless a project is listed as dropped, we are working on it. If we aren't releasing the manga at a good pace, either one of the steps is taking a long time (some manga just take a long time to do, since they're complicated), or the manga is stalled at some stage (due to a staff member being held up). If you want to help speed up a particular project, and have a skill to offer (that is, if you're able to help scan, translate, or edit it), feel free to email us. Are you open for joint projects? [top] If you're from another scanlation group and want to work on a project with us, please contact us with the project name, what your group would be willing to do, samples, and anything else you'd like us to know. We are always open to joint projects. Can we use pictures from your projects for layouts, wallpaper, or something else? [top] Sure, so long as you make no money off of it, and you credit www.storminheaven.net. And the mangaka, of course! |
